One of my first ones was a Tower hobbies trainer 40 and a sturdy birdy... Looks like crap but flies well and takes alot of crashes well... Your best bet is find a local flying field and have one of the experienced pilots help you... Also, join the AMA.. they have insurance for members that will cover your rear if something happens.. an out of control plane is alot worse than a car, they seem to find the worst things to hit...

very good advice... but try and find an electric that has the same control as the nitro... 4 channel rudder/throttle/ elevator and aileron cheaper than the nirto ones... I have both.. the electric is def easier to learn on, but the good ones can cost as much especially when you consider lipo's and chargers, brushless motors and the rest...

rc planes are a freakin blast to drive, i had two and my father and I flew them behind a library around here, its a huge field, i got really good at it.. Im coming back into rc with a small electric heli and then the lst2 and maybe a small nice flying plane

i agree with you abused. a electric rc is much easier for a beginner as i have found out with my cars and trucks.
